Employee Spotlight: 2020 Genetic Counselor Match Day

Published on

We are pleased to announce that six of our employees matched in the Genetic Counseling Graduate School Admissions Match program this cycle. 492 students will enter genetic counseling training programs this year from 50 accredited training programs.
Congratulations to our Genetic Counseling Assistants (GCAs), Chelsea Reierson, Lauren Rachow, Maria Rhine, Mryia Hubert, Eryn Mares, as well as our R&D Technician, Farrah Uphoff, who are celebrating their acceptance.

Chelsea and Lauren will be classmates as they both matched in University of Wisconsin’s Genetic Counseling Program. Lauren, however, will be returning to Marshfield her second year for clinical rotations at Marshfield Clinic. Maria will be joining past employees, Madeline Reding and Chelsey Walsh at University of Pittsburgh. Mryia will be heading east to Vanderbilt University and Eryn is venturing to Augustana University in South Dakota. Farrah will remain in Marshfield as she will be participating in Boise State’s online program.

We have enjoyed watching our team grow as aspiring genetic counselors and being part of their journey. They have all worked very hard to earn their spots, as a successful match is dependent on coursework, work experience, advocacy volunteerism, clinical job shadowing, and of course the lengthy application and interview process. We congratulate our team members and can’t wait to see the amazing things they accomplish in their careers.

Their pending departure for them this summer will pave the way for our team to grow again. Watch for a future announcement on this. We are definitely fortunate to have 4 GCAs staying with us to lead the way in training our new cohort this summer.
