Employee Spotlight: 2019 Genetic Counselor Match Day

Published on

We are pleased to announce that six of our employees were recently accepted into Genetic Counseling Graduate Schools. Only about 400 students enter training programs each year at 45 US accredited training programs and 4 Canadian programs. As described below, all of these programs send out their offer letters to applicants on exactly the same day: Match Day, which this year was April 26.

Congratulations to Genetic Counseling Assistants, Natalie Jacob, Madison Aliff, Kaegan Mestel, Madeline Reding, Chelsey Walsh, as well as Genetic Testing Coordinator, Alexis Dammann. Madeline and Chelsey will be classmates as they both were accepted into the University of Pittsburgh’s Genetic Counseling Program. Madeline will be entering into a dual degree program for Genetic Counseling & Public Health. Alexis will be joining past employee, Bridget Winchester, at University of Minnesota. Madi will be heading west to the University of Colorado, and Kaegen is venturing to the University of Michigan. Natalie will return home out East closer to family to attend Rutger University. All of our employees landed in programs that ranked at or near the top of their lists!

The departure this summer of this outstanding group of employees will provide the opportunity for new hires. Watch for an upcoming announcement of our new GCAs. We are definitely fortunate to have three GCAs staying with us to lead the way in training this new cohort.
