PreventionGenetics performs genotyping of human DNA polymorphisms in support of biomedical research. We type both multiallelic (microsatellite/STRP) and diallelic (SNP and indel) polymorphisms. We perform both whole genome scans and fine mapping. Samples and data requirements for STRP and SNP genotyping projects are slightly different. Click on the links for further documentation. PreventionGenetics will undertake projects of any size.

We emphasize low genotyping costs. See our Price List to calculate the cost of your project. Genotyping prices are as low as $0.35 per genotype for STRPs and $0.05 per genotype for SNPs. Assay development fees are reduced or waived for any markers we have previously typed (see Marker List). For a formal quote, please contact Research Genotyping with your sample and marker number.

One of our specialties is the whole genome polymorphism scan. As standard scans, we offer 400 STRP (10 cM) and 800 STRP (5 cM) tests. However, we can readily supplement these standard scans with additional markers, especially including a newly created set of 800 diallelic indels.

For fine mapping, we offer genotyping of nearly all human DNA polymorphisms including any of about 200,000 STRPs, 800,000 diallelic indels, and 12 million SNPs.

PreventionGenetics understands genotyping quality. Genotyping error rates are typically under 0.5% and with clean genomic DNA, genotyping completion rates are > 98%.

Experience of our staff in human genotyping is second to none. PreventionGenetics personnel have been performing genome scans for disease gene mapping and other purposes for over 15 years. We have assisted in the mapping of hundreds of disease genes. In addition, we have identified and characterized many thousands of human DNA polymorphisms, constructed some of the most widely used human genetic maps, and assembled many human genome screening sets of markers.

PreventionGenetics will also store your research DNA samples. We offer continuously monitored freezers with multiple backup systems and remote storage of secondary aliquots.
