(1) This fee is reduced to 20% of the indicated amount
if we have already designed an assay for the polymorphism of interest.
Our average success rate for SNP assay development is 85-90%.
(2) Genotypes are calculated by mutiplying the number of samples
by the number of polymorphisms.
To calculate total project cost, first calculate the
total number of genotypes, then add the appropriate assay setup fee
times the number of markers to the appropriate genotype cost times the
number of genotypes. For example, for a project with 1000 DNA samples
and 75 markers, the total number of genotypes would be 75,000; the assay
fee would be $130 X 75 = $9,750; the genotype cost would be $0.17 X
75,000 = $12,750; and the total cost $22,500.
